Consider joining the Girl Awards Committee. We need all sorts of people with all sorts of different skills (and time) that are looking to try something new.
Have a few hours during the year to spare and like to interact with the girls face to face? – Consider being a facilitator and teaching either Shoot for Silver or Go for Gold - or both. We are seeking individuals that would be willing to take training to facilitate the training sessions – once trained your commitment can be as limited as a few hours one day a year to train (you pick the day, time and location if you want) Have a few hours every few months and have a passion for email? – Consider being a mentor. We are looking for adults to train specifically on either the Bronze, Silver and/or Gold awards to serve as mentors. Mentors would handle questions and provide support to girls going through the process. Previous experience in assisting girls through an award is preferable, but not required. Have a few hours every month and love to talk? – Consider being a regular committee member. We need some extra help in reviewing the Silver proposals and finals. We meet once per month for a few hours to review submissions and can use a few more minds to help us out. A strong desire to help girls through the award process is greatly helpful, but not necessary. LOVE social media and have some extra time you are willing to give? - Consider being a pioneer at the community level and help set up some way for the Girl Awards Committee to get the word out to the community (and beyond) about all the cool stuff our girls are doing. We have no clue what we want to do, or how we want to do it…but we know we need to get information out so everyone can see what our girls are doing. Want to volunteer, have a suggestion, or question…just email the committee: [email protected] Relay For Life of Virginia Beach is looking for volunteers for its event held on June 7th, 2014 at Landstown High School.
